Using 2019 as the last “typical year,” Super Sally compares the Vital Statistics data for births and deaths during 2023 for the Philippines.
“New readers may be shocked at the excess mortality in 2021, which started only in March of that year,” she writes. However, “I believe that the 2021 mortality and birth data was throttled in early 2022, and the devastation of 2021 will likely be hidden forever.”
Adding the number of fewer births and the number of excess deaths for the years 4 years 2020 to 2023, Super Sally calculates that there is an “unrealized population” of 1.285 million; people who likely should have been living and contributing to the population, but are not.
The Philippines Civil Registration System is responsible for collecting and maintaining vital statistics, including births, marriages, and deaths. The data is obtained from vital events registered at the appropriate Office of the City/Municipal Civil Registrar throughout the country and subsequently submitted for encoding to the Office of the Civil Registrar General through the Provincial Statistical Offices of the Philippine Statistics Authority (“PSA”).
On a yearly basis, the PSA publishes a report on these vital statistics called the Vital Statistics Report (“VSR”). The VSR relating to the year 2023 was published on 7 November 2024.
The Philippines’ mass COVID-19 vaccination program was initiated in March 2021. While there were a few COVID “vaccine” brands used in the Philippines, it is the Jannsen injection supplied by COVAX that seems to have been the most deadly.
“This is not to say other injectables were not deadly and causative of excess deaths, just that Janssen drove those excess deaths to a new devastating high!” Super Sally writes.

The Truth About the COVID Vaccine Is Finally Becoming Known
Our understanding of COVID-19 vaccinations and their impact on health and mortality has evolved substantially since the first vaccine rollouts. Published reports from the original randomized phase 3 trials concluded that the COVID-19 mRNA vaccines could greatly reduce COVID-19 symptoms. In the interim, problems with the methods, execution, and reporting of these pivotal trials have emerged. Re-analysis of the Pfizer trial data identified statistically significant increases in serious adverse events (SAEs) in the vaccine group. Numerous SAEs were identified following the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA), including death, cancer, cardiac events, and various autoimmune, hematological, reproductive, and neurological disorders. Furthermore, these products never underwent adequate safety and toxicological testing in accordance with previously established scientific standards. Among the other major topics addressed in this narrative review are the published analyses of serious harms to humans, quality control issues and process-related impurities, mechanisms underlying adverse events (AEs), the immunologic basis for vaccine inefficacy, and concerning mortality trends based on the registrational trial data. The risk-benefit imbalance substantiated by the evidence to date contraindicates further booster injections and suggests that, at a minimum, the mRNA injections should be removed from the childhood immunization program until proper safety and toxicological studies are conducted.
The vaccine destroyed my life. I haven't felt OK ever since I got the JAB three years ago. Since that day I've needed open heart surgery, a radical appendectomy, kidney failure (stage 3) and every joint in my body hurts. Over the last two months I've begun coughing up blood. When my lungs go it won't just be game over....it will be lights out.

Brazilian-developed vaccine against Covid-19 registered by Anvisa
The new vaccine against Covid-19 developed by the Brazilian company Zalika Farmacêutica has been entered into the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) this week, Agencia Brasil reported. The drug can be used in people aged 12 and over and is to be administered in two doses, 21 days apart, with boosters after 6 months for those over 18 years of age.
The technology used in the Zalika vaccine is called “recombinant” because its molecules are formed by combining two different sources. In this case, the protein S antigen (spike) -capable of promoting a response from the immune system- and the saponin-based adjuvant allow the mixture to enhance the production of antibodies. This form of production brings greater safety to the pharmaceutical industry, Anvisa explained in a statement.
The new immunizer is the sixth to receive definitive individual registration from Anvisa, in addition to Comirnaty Ipfizer/Wyeth, Comirnaty bivalent (Pfizer), Janssen Vaccine (Janssen-Cila), Oxford/Covishield (Fiocruz and Astra-Zeneca) and Spikevax bivalent vaccines have received this type of authorization. Pfizer/Biontech, Astra-Zeneca, Janssen, Moderna, Sinopharm, and Sinovac also have definitive registration in the form of the Covax Facility consortium.

Laura Clawson at Daily Kos:
Taylor Swift left Arrowhead Stadium with Kansas City NFL star Travis Kelce after cheering him on in his Sunday game while seated next to his mother. And yes, there’s a political angle here, thanks to the likes of right-wing personality Charlie Kirk—and thanks to Kelce’s own decisions. At age 33, he’s presumably contemplating what his life after the NFL will look like. Swift’s attendance at the game followed rumors that she and Kelce were dating, as well as him publicly reiterating an invitation to her to come to a game. All this focused attention on Kelce and his recent endorsement decisions, which are legitimately interesting. In the wake of the right-wing boycott of Bud Light for its promotion with trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney, Kelce appeared in an ad for Bud Light. Last week, he appeared in a Pfizer commercial for COVID-19 and flu vaccination. “With my schedule, saving time is key,” Kelce wrote on Instagram, alongside the video. “The CDC says you can get this season’s updated COVID-19 shot when you get your flu shot if you’re due for both. That’s why I got two shots in one stop! Ask your doctor or pharmacist if it would be right for you. You can also visit CDC’s vaccines.gov to learn more and schedule an appointment.”
This is not a guy looking to steer clear of controversy—he’s making money while telling us something about his values. He surely had other, equally lucrative endorsement offers. Kelce had taken some incoming fire over the Bud Light endorsement, including predictable labels like “woke.” But having Swift show up cheering for him renewed the attention on those decisions in predictably gross ways. [...] But here’s the thing: Swift and Kelce are huge stars—one a wee bit bigger than the other—in their respective fields, and they’ve made the decisions they’ve made, including Kelce’s endorsements and Swift pushing voter registration and making sure her “Eras” tour movie was made under an interim agreement with SAG-AFTRA, all with an understanding of the likely political fallout. The rage that we see at a big macho white guy daring to not stay in line with the right-wing culture wars is telling, as is the specific attack on his masculinity. But Kelce clearly decided that he was fine with that when he made his endorsement decisions. Basically, this is yet another thing Republicans are welcome to die mad about.
Right-wing perpetual fit-throwers are up in arms about Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce for a multitude of reasons: his alleged romance with Taylor Swift and sponsoring Bud Light and Pfizer.

World Economic Forum: Guidance on Health Measures PDF
Guidance on Health Measures Annual Meeting 2023 D A V O S - K L O S T E R S , S W I T Z E R L A N D 1 6 - 2 0 J A N U A R Y Health and safety The World Economic Forum attaches the highest priority to protecting the safety and well-being of participants, staff and the local community. To create a safe environment at the Annual Meeting 2023, the Forum is working with the world’s leading health experts and virologists, as well as Switzerland’s public authorities, to respond to the evolving global health situation. The Forum continues to monitor the development of the COVID-19 pandemic and consult with health experts and authorities, and will adapt, if needed, the measures accordingly.
The Forum strongly recommends that participants are vaccinated with the latest available vaccines and take a COVID-19 test before travelling to Davos.
Participants are required to get tested in one of the Forum testing centres after arriving in Davos and picking up their badge. Conducting a test will keep the badge active and grant the access to the Annual Meeting’s venues. Failing to conduct an onsite test or a positive test result will lead to the badge being deactivated.
Masks and disinfectants will be available throughout the Annual Meeting 2023 at all meeting venues. Additionally, COVID-19 self-tests will be at participants’ disposal at the Forum testing centres and Registration Centre.

This pre-print study -- a rigorous statistical analysis -- from the Cleveland Clinic does not bode well for the effectivness of the mRNA vaccines.
“Risk of COVID-19 increased with time since the most recent prior COVID-19 episode and with the number of vaccine doses previously received.” [emphasis mine.]

2,102 people in S’pore have died from Covid-19 since start of pandemic to June 2024: MOH - Published Sept 2, 2024
SINGAPORE - There have been 2,102 Covid-19 deaths here since the start of the pandemic in 2020 to June 2024, the Ministry of Health (MOH) told The Straits Times – a figure that public health experts describe as low.
While the experts say Singapore has done well in the fight against Covid-19, the pandemic nevertheless pushed up the age-standardised death rate – an indicator that allows for a fair comparison of mortality rates over time as it removes the effect of a rapidly ageing population.
Singapore’s age-standardised death rate rose to a high of 5.9 per 1,000 resident population in 2022, up from 5.2 in 2020 and 5.6 in 2021. In 2023, it went back down to 5.6.
The MOH gave ST data on Covid-19 deaths in response to questions on the sharp increases in the total number of deaths over the past few years.
A total of 26,888 people died last year, just 0.01 per cent lower than the 26,891 deaths in 2022, based on the Report on Registration of Births and Deaths 2023 published by the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority in July.
The 2023 figure was 10.7 per cent higher than the 24,292 deaths in 2021. In 2020, 22,054 people died.
An MOH spokeswoman said: “To observe mortality trends over time, age-standardised death rates are used instead of absolute numbers of deaths, as they remove the effect of changing population structure, such as that caused by an ageing population.”
From 2013 to 2020, the age-standardised death rates fell despite the absolute number of deaths increasing due to Singapore’s ageing population, the spokeswoman said. For example, the age-standardised death rate was 6.1 per 1,000 resident population in 2013, but fell almost year on year to 5.2 per 1,000 resident population in 2020.
Meanwhile, the absolute number of deaths rose steadily year on year from 18,938 deaths in 2013 to 22,054 deaths in 2020.
The MOH spokeswoman said the falling age-standardised death rates were likely due to “our preventive health efforts, earlier diagnosis and better treatment of diseases”.
But from 2020 to 2022, the age-standardised death rates increased as they were “driven by the Covid-19 pandemic”, she added.
She said that while Singapore had one of the lowest mortality rates in the world during the pandemic, more people still died during that time.
The increase in the age-standardised death rates in 2021 was mainly due to the Delta wave in the last few months of that year. Before the Delta wave, there were few Covid-19 deaths, the MOH spokeswoman added.
In 2022, the increase in the age-standardised death rates was due to three much larger Covid-19 waves driven by the Omicron BA.1/2, BA.4/5 and XBB variants.
“Although protected by high vaccination coverage, the large number of infections inevitably resulted in more deaths associated with Covid-19,” the MOH spokeswoman said.
From 2022 to 2023, the age-standardised death rates fell again, which reflected a return to pre-Covid-19 trends.
The MOH spokeswoman said the impact of Covid-19 on mortality rates was lower in 2023 as the XBB subvariants and JN.1 waves were smaller than those in 2022.
The top causes of deaths in Singapore in the past five years were cancer, ischaemic heart diseases, pneumonia and cerebrovascular diseases, which are conditions that affect blood flow to the brain, such as stroke.
Associate Professor Alex Cook, vice-dean of research at the National University of Singapore (NUS) Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, said it is unfair to compare the total number of deaths today with the past as Singapore’s population is rapidly ageing. With a larger pool of seniors, more deaths are to be expected.
Hence, the age-standardised death rate is used to enable a fair comparison, either between countries with different age profiles of its populations or between two or more points in time for a particular country, he said.
Considering the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, Singapore’s age-standardised death rates look “very favourable” compared with other high-income countries, Prof Cook said.
In September 2022, the MOH released a report that estimated that there were 2,490 excess deaths during the Covid-19 pandemic from January 2020 to June 2022.
Excess deaths refer to the difference between the number of deaths from all causes since the pandemic started and the expected number of deaths in the absence of Covid-19.
Of the excess deaths, 1,403 Singapore residents, or Singapore citizens and permanent residents, died of Covid-19.
The remainder died of other illnesses within 90 days of being infected with Covid-19. The report said that Covid-19 aggravated existing illnesses, resulting in death.
And among those who died of Covid-19 in 2021 and the first half of 2022, those who were not fully vaccinated were over-represented.
The report said: “This highlights the importance of the elderly getting vaccinated and boosted to protect them from Covid-19 and its complications.”
Of the 2,102 people who died of Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic in 2020 until June 2024, 2,035 were Singapore residents, said the MOH spokeswoman. The remainder were non-residents.
Professor Teo Yik Ying, dean of the NUS Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, said: “It is important to understand that the increase in age-standardised death rate from 2020 to 2022 is not simply because of increased deaths due to Covid-19 infections, but also there were people who passed on because they were unable to seek timely medical attention for their pre-existing chronic conditions.”
At that time, many elective medical procedures were deferred to prevent hospitals from being overwhelmed and to minimise the possibility of patients being infected with Covid-19 while hospitalised, he said.
He added: “While this ensured the health system was able to tend to the most urgent cases, this may also mean some cases were only identified at a later stage of disease progression, and thus experiencing a poorer survival rate.”
Public health specialist Jeremy Lim said that Singapore has done well in tackling the Covid-19 pandemic.
“About 2,000 deaths directly attributed to Covid-19 is perhaps surprising for it being low. In many other countries, total mortality due to Covid-19 is much higher,” he said.
“Singapore has done well in addressing Covid-19... but even then, some deaths are inevitable.”

Felvezetésnek pont jó édeskrumpli.
Story time:
In middle school biology, we did an experiment. We were given yams, which we would sprout in cups of water. We then had to make hypotheses about how the yams would grow, based on descriptions of yam plants in our books, and make notes of our observations as they grew.
Here’s what was supposed to happen: we were supposed to see that the actual growth of the plant did not resemble our hypotheses. We were then supposed to figure out that these were, in fact, sweet potatoes.
What actually happened was that every single student in every single class lied in their notes so that their observations perfectly matched their hypotheses. See, everyone assumed the mismatch meant they had done something wrong in the process of growing the plant or that they had misunderstood the dichotomous key or the plant identification terminology. And, thanks to the wonders of a public school education, everyone assumed the wrong results would get us a failing grade. We were trying to pass. We didn’t want to get bitched out by the teacher. Curiosity, learning, science - that had nothing to do with why we were sitting in that classroom. So we all lied.
The teacher was furious. She tried to fail every student, but the administration stepped in and told her she wasn’t allowed to because a 100% fail rate is recognized as a failure of the teacher, not the class. It wasn’t even her fault, really, though her being a notorious hard-ass didn’t help. It was a failure of the entire educational system.
So whenever I see crap like Elizabeth Holmes’s blood test scam or pharmaceutical trials which are unable to be replicated or industry-funded research that reaches wildly unscientific conclusions, I just remember those fucking sweet potatoes. I remember that curiosity dies when people are just trying to give their superiors the “right” answers, so they can get the grade, get the job, get the paycheck. It’s not about truth when it’s about paying rent. There’s no scientific integrity if you can’t control for human desperation.

Understanding Hajj 2021 Guidelines for US Pilgrims
Hajj, the spiritual journey to Mecca, is one of the five pillars of Islam, and every year millions of Muslims around the world gather to perform this sacred pilgrimage. However, the global pandemic in 2020 and 2021 led to significant changes in how Hajj was conducted. With safety and health measures being the priority, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced several guidelines and restrictions for pilgrims, including those from the United States. Here’s a look at the key Hajj 2021 guidelines from USA and what prospective pilgrims needed to know.
Limited Numbers and Strict Health Protocols
One of the most important changes in 2021 was the restriction on the number of people allowed to perform Hajj. Due to concerns over COVID-19, Saudi Arabia limited the number of pilgrims to around 60,000, and only those residing in the Kingdom were allowed to apply. This meant that international pilgrims, including those from the USA, were unable to participate in Hajj in 2021.
For Muslims in the US hoping to perform Hajj, this limitation was disappointing, but it was a necessary measure to ensure the safety of pilgrims and to curb the spread of the virus. Saudi authorities focused on providing a safe experience for pilgrims within the country, requiring strict health protocols, including mandatory vaccinations and health screenings.
Vaccination Requirement
One of the main requirements for pilgrims in 2021 was the need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia required that all pilgrims—both domestic and international—be vaccinated with one of the approved vaccines. This included vaccines like Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, and others that were recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO).
For US pilgrims who were planning to go to Hajj, getting vaccinated was a critical step to ensure eligibility. In addition, pilgrims had to submit their vaccination status to the Saudi authorities before being approved for entry.
Health Screenings and Quarantine
Along with vaccination, all pilgrims were required to undergo multiple health screenings before traveling to Mecca. This included COVID-19 testing in the days leading up to departure, as well as testing upon arrival in Saudi Arabia. Pilgrims also had to adhere to quarantine protocols and other health safety measures to help reduce the risk of infection during the pilgrimage.
Online Registration and Application
The process of applying for Hajj in 2021 was fully digital. Since international pilgrims, including those from the United States, were not allowed to participate, those in the Kingdom had to go through an online registration system. Pilgrims had to apply through official channels, which involved submitting personal health details, proof of vaccination, and other necessary information to gain approval.
For those who were hoping to perform Hajj in the future, it's important to stay updated on the regulations set forth by the Saudi government, as these guidelines might change in future years depending on global health conditions.
The Spiritual Importance of Learning the Quran
Though many American Muslims were unable to attend Hajj in 2021, they could still engage in their spiritual journeys through the study of the Quran. Understanding the teachings of Islam and the significance of Hajj can enrich the experience when the time comes to undertake the pilgrimage.
If you are looking for ways to deepen your connection with the Quran, websites like Riwaq Al Quran offer valuable resources for learning and memorizing the Quran. Whether you are new to Quranic studies or seeking to improve your knowledge, online platforms can help you on your path of spiritual growth.
Looking Ahead: Future Hajj Plans
For US Muslims who missed the chance to perform Hajj in 2021, it is important to remember that the opportunity will come again in the future. While the guidelines and restrictions in place in 2021 were exceptional due to the pandemic, Hajj remains an essential religious duty for Muslims. Keeping up with the latest travel advisories, vaccine requirements, and health protocols will be key when planning for future pilgrimages.
In the meantime, investing time in understanding the Quran and strengthening your faith through daily prayers, reflection, and learning can prepare you for the spiritual journey ahead.
Conclusion
The Hajj 2021 guidelines from USA highlighted the impact of the global pandemic on religious practices and pilgrimages. While American Muslims were not able to perform Hajj in 2021, there are still many ways to engage with Islam spiritually. Learning about the Quran and strengthening your relationship with Allah can be done from anywhere, and when the next opportunity for Hajj comes, you will be spiritually and mentally prepared for the sacred pilgrimage.

Vaccines
Vaccines are medical products designed to protect individuals from infectious diseases by stimulating the body’s immune response. They work by introducing a harmless part of a pathogen—such as a protein or a weakened form of the virus—allowing the immune system to recognize and fight off the real infection in the future. Vaccines have been critical in reducing the spread of diseases like measles, polio, and COVID-19, contributing to public health and preventing severe illness and complications. Modern vaccines are rigorously tested for safety and efficacy and are a key tool in global health efforts.
